As
physician adoption of EMRs increases, so does physician
demand for hospital clinical data piped directly into
their EMR systems. Hospitals must address this expectation
in order to remain competitive among their physicians.
The first interface with the EMR at the largest admitting
practice may not be a problem, but as the requests
multiply, so does the support, the security problems,
the complexity, and the expense.
Medicity
now offers a turnkey solution that eliminates the
interface nightmare of creating, hosting, and maintaining
a tangle of point-to-point EMR interfaces. The Medicity
Clinical Clearinghouse—a low-cost ASP
solution—employs web-native technology and a
library of EMR interfaces to efficiently resolve hospitals’
data distribution problems without a substantial capital
expense.
Medicity
is uniquely positioned to provide the most comprehensive
EMR integration solution on the market. In 2004, Medicity
developed one of the earliest EMR web-service interfaces
in Healthcare to support lab data distribution into
physician offices. Since that time, because of its
contract with a national medical testing laboratory
that serves more than 240,000 physicians, Medicity
has proliferated its EMR interface library. This national
lab contract and Medicity’s growing involvement
in large health-information-exchange initiatives further
EMR-vendor cooperation. Medicity’s expanding
interface library, combined with the inherent scalability
of its technology, creates an EMR integration solution
that is both flexible and powerful.
The
Medicity Clinical Clearinghouse service routes data
from the hospital’s clinical systems into physician
EMRs and improves data distribution options, maintenance,
and system usability.

ProAccess
4.0 Brings Together the Best
of Two Product Lineages
The
new version of ProAccess combines the best features
of two successful product lines at Medicity and Park
City Solutions. ProAccess 4.0 makes a long list of
usability enhancements available to our clients, including
new flexibility in data viewing, hover-over views
to reduce user navigation, and the ability to pivot
the data axis when trending results. It brings together
a sophisticated user interface with a world-class
interoperability platform designed to be an effective
solution for all large healthcare organizations with
physicians who depend upon them for data—hospitals,
hospital systems, IDNs, and large physician groups.
The new release was designed after extensive physician
feedback and client consultation.
“ProAccess
4.0 really benefited from the prior efforts of two
successful companies competing in the marketplace.
Now those teams have been integrated into a single
R&D organization intent on preserving the best
features from both product lines, while innovating
to produce the industry’s finest example of
physician-focused, clinical information tools,”
says Carol Owen, Medicity SVP of Product Management.

Delaware
Health Information Network
Leading the Way
The
Delaware Health Information Network (DHIN) has a strong
leadership position among care communities that want
to share clinical information. Following the successful
rollout of lab results, radiology reads, and transcription
reports in the first phase of their multi-year effort,
DHIN is implementing a statewide Community Master
Person Index (CMPI) and Record Locator Service (RLS)
that will track the location and description of new
clinical information available in the state. They
have launched a multi-year, medication-reconciliation
project and continue to integrate new clinical data
sources in the network, with 18 additional systems
interfaces on the calendar for implementation. During
the next year, they will also implement Medicity’s
solution for ordering lab tests through physician
EMRs.
DHIN
has received their expected $3 million of funding
for the next budget year from the State which will
be matched by private funds, assuring adequate resources
to meet these organizational goals.
Medicity
was selected with Perot Systems Corporation to configure
the solution for sharing clinical information in Delaware.
DHIN is a public-private venture managing the initiative
for all stakeholders.
